Judge Dorsainvil was appointed by Governor Larry Hogan as Judge to the District Court for Prince George’s County, MD on February 17, 2020. Judge Dorsainvil presides over civil, criminal, landlord-tenant, tax, traffic, DUI, bail review, and domestic violence matters in Prince George’s County. Maryland. She was formerly an Assistant Disciplinary Counsel with the Office of Disciplinary Counsel where she investigated and prosecuted D.C. lawyers for ethical misconduct. She also worked at the Attorney Grievance Commission of Maryland where she was an Assistant Bar Counsel. Judge Dorsainvil is an Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University Law Center where she teaches professional responsibility to law students.
Judge Dorsainvil is a graduate of Boston University where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies and Public Policy. She also received her Juris Doctor degree from American University’s Washington College of Law. She is very active in various bar associations and committees and serves on the Maryland Judicial Ethics Committee, is the Co-Chair of the Prince George’s County Domestic Violence Coordaining Council (DVCC), is an appointed member of the ABA Judges Advisory Committee, is the current Co-Chair of the Women’s Committee of the J. Franklyn Bourne Bar Association and sits on the Board of Directors for the Prince George’s County Bar Association.
Judge Dorsainvil has received significant recognition for her work and dedication and is the recipient of the Daily Record’s Maryland Top 100 Women awards (2013, 2015, and 2024), the Daily Record’s Leadership in Law, Finalist for the ABA Young Lawyer’s Division National Outstanding Young Lawyer of the Year 2011, the 2022 Association of Haitian Professionals Award for Professional Achievement as well as several other honors, and the 2024 Nigerian American Lawyers Association’s Judicial Ideal Leadership Award for demonstrating excellence and exemplifying the profession’s goals of diversity, inclusion and respect for others.
