Emeka Onwezi

Emeka Onwezi provides legal representation in the various areas of law, including Family Law, Criminal Defense, Civil Litigation, Automobile Accidents, Family-Based Immigration, Asylum, Healthcare Law, Bankruptcy, Foreclosure Defense, Commercial Construction Law, Corporate Formation, Nursing Board Defense, Wills and Trusts.   In addition to his more than 20 years of legal experience as a licensed attorney in state and federal courts in Maryland and Washington, D.C., Mr. Onwezi mentors younger attorneys and law students. 

Mr. Onwezi is a managing partner at Ogbuehi Omena Onwezi, LLC.  Prior to that, Mr. Onwezi was a partner at OAU Law Group, LLC, an Associate at Odelugo & Johnson, LLC, and a Judicial Law Clerk for the Michigan Tax Tribunal.  Mr. Onwezi obtained his Jurist Doctorate with distinction from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School in May 2003. He received his Master’s in Healthcare Administration from the Milken Institute School of Public Health at George Washington University in May of 2021, and his Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and Criminal Justice from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2000. 

Mr. Onwezi served in the United States Marine Corps for four years of active duty and six years of reserve, after which he was honorably discharged from the United States Military.  Mr. Onwezi is a Veteran of the Gulf War Era.  Mr. Onwezi is an avid sports fan and enjoys traveling. He is a 4th degree member of the Knight of Columbus.
